The Rubik'sCube
The Rubik's Cube was invented by Erno Rubik in
1974. It was originally called the “Magic Cube” but, in 1980 it was changed into the “Rubik Cube”. The Rubik Cube is black with red, white, blue, green, and yellow stickers. All the cubes rotate around a core mechanism. More than 100,000,000 of them were sold between 1980 and 1982 and 300,000,000 million of them have been sold worldwide. That's over 400,000,000 Rubik's Cubes!

Sesame Street

Sesame Street was premiered on November 10,1969.It is one the longest running T.V shows. So far Sesame Street aired 39 seasons. Before it was aired, the show had to go through many tests to make sure the material was productive and accurate. Sesame Street is well known for its Muppet characters and educational material. Over time sesame Street has changed. By the second season, the beloved character Grover changed from a dark green to blue.

John Lennon Assassinated

John Lennon was a famous artist who was assassinated on December eighth ,1980 . He was born in October ninth, 1940 in Liverpool England. He played many genres of music like rock and pop rock. He played a variety of instruments including , guitar, piano and bass. In addition,he also played harmonica and sung. He was in the famous rock band called the Beatles in 1957. Unfortunately they split 13 years later in 1970. He won the Grammy Award in 1981 for the best solo album. On December eighth, 1980 John Lennon was murdered by Mark David Chapman. He was shot multiple times in the back. Mark was later arrested for second-degree murder.

MTV Airs

MTV (Music Television) first aired on cable television August 1, 1981. The channel's original purpose was to play music videos. Today MTV still plays music, but it also airs reality television shows aimed for teenagers and young adults.

Their headquarters has always been in New York City. The first music video shown on MTV was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles. The second music video shown on MTV "You Better Run" by Pat Benatar’s.

Cheers

One of the greatest TV shows in the 1980s was "Cheers". Cheers premiered on September 30, 1982. The TV shows was nearly cancelled after is was ranked 77th out of 77. Soon later at the end of the first season. It was ranked #1 out of all the shows.

Cheers has 28 "Emmy Awards". One of of the greatest actor Kelsey Grammer. Made a show off of the show Cheers. Kelsey made the show "Fraiser" and appeared every single character from Cheers except Kirstie Alley and deceased Nicholas Colasanto.


The Invention of Nike

Bill Bowerman and Phil Night invented the First Nike shoe in 1964. Originally, the Nike shoes were called Blue Ribbon Sports. In 1966 Blue Ribbon Sports opened its first retail outlet selling sportswear, including the Japanese made Tiger running shoes. The famous graphic designs artist Carolyn Davidson designed the Famous Nike ‘Swoosh’ and sold it to the company for $35. In 1972, 8 years after the first Nike’s were invented, Bill Bowerman used his wife's waffle iron to mold the sole of a shoe that has better traction, creating a shoe called the 'Moon Shoe' and distributed it to four track & field athletes at the 1972 Olympic Trials. In the same year, 1972, the first line of Nike footwear hit the stores. Finally, in 1978 Blue Ribbon Sports changed there name to Nike Inc.
